Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes.
Add diced onion, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until vegetables are softened, approximately 3-4 minutes.
Stir in the rinsed rice, ensuring it is well coated with the sausage and vegetable mixture.
Pour in chicken broth, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
Notes
This dish is easily customizable! Swap out the sausage for chicken, add extra veggies, or even make it spicy with some red pepper flakes.
