Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Bowl
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lbs Chicken Boneless, skinless breasts or thighs work best.
  • 8 oz Mozzarella Cheese Shredded mozzarella is easiest to use.
  • To taste Other Cheeses Try cheddar, provolone, or Parmesan.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Adds savory flavor.
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder Adds savory flavor.
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning A blend of herbs that adds flavor.
  • To taste Salt Enhances the flavors.
  • To taste Pepper Adds a little spice.
  • To taste Extra Veggies or Sauces Consider adding peppers, onions, or your favorite sauce.

Instructions

  • Wash the chicken breasts or thighs under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat them evenly with the seasoning.
  • If you're adding other vegetables or sauces, prepare them now. Chop any vegetables into bite-sized pieces. If using cheese, shred it.
  • Put the seasoned chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker. If adding vegetables, put them on top of the chicken. Then, add any sauces. Finally, sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over everything.
  • For boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours. Chicken thighs need longer: 6-8 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high. Always check your slow cooker's instructions.
  • The chicken is done when it's cooked through and no longer pink inside. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).

Notes

Remember, you can change this recipe. Add your favorite veggies or cheeses. Experiment with spices! Slow cooking is fun; try new things. Always ensure your chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) for food safety. Check your chicken's internal temperature with a food thermometer.
